The Mini John Cooper Works GP will arrive in 2020 with 300 HP

The Mini John Cooper Works GP will arrive in 2020 as the street version of the 2017 JCW GP Concept. A high-performance compact of which the British manufacturer only plans to produce 3,000 units . Each of them is powered by a four-cylinder turbo engine with 300 HP of power

According to Mini, the John Cooper Works GP will be the fastest and most powerful car ever made for Street. They have taken several months to complete their development and have just begun the tests of rigor in track to finish putting it to point. While the brand believes that most of the future owners of this car will use it on the road, the tests in circuit will allow Mini to guarantee that the suspension, the engine, the aerodynamics and the weight distribution work in harmony to provide the driving experience the most exciting possible.

What is known so far

Apart from its power, many details of the John Cooper Works GP have not yet been published. To begin with, the three images that you can see in this article are the only ones that exist at the moment. It is not even clear if the car will be full or front-wheel drive . What would significantly change its characteristics on the asphalt and the category in which it would fight on the famous Nürburgring circuit.

Touches of the 'concept'

The most obvious similarity between the John Cooper Works GP and the concept on which it is based is the large rear spoiler with the "GP" logos painted at each side. We can also see that this car has sports wheels with black and silver spokes and dual exhaust pipes accompanied by an aggressive rear diffuser.

Looking for a personal record in the Nürburgring

The previous John Cooper Works GP built in 2012 managed to complete the Nürburgring circuit in 8 minutes and 23 seconds . With this new car, Mini aims to reduce this mark below 8 minutes to become a serious rival to the Honda Civic Type R and the Ford Focus RS.
